This goes hand in hand with the accessibility setting mentioned below that dims video automatically when the phone detects flashes of light and strobe effects. Apple is empatic about how it supports those with accessibility needs, so this update makes sense, allowing all users to be able to benefit from the maps the Weather app now includes.
